There’s a very key concept that is central to the coaching I do with my clients and it’s this: income comes from assets.

For example you might own a property (asset) and lease it out (income) or you might own company stock (asset) and you receive dividends (income).

Now obviously, without owning the asset (the property or stock in the examples above), you can’t collect the rental or dividend income.

These are both examples of financial assets. But did you know the exact same principle applies to marketing?

To get a very consistent level of lead flow which drives the income of your business, you need marketing assets.

Marketing assets are things like books, explainer videos, webinars that get delivered regularly, evergreen email sequences, and much more.

These are things that educate, motivate, and develop trust with your target market.

Can you do marketing without assets? Sure but you’re going to have to compensate with time—a lot of time and a lot of hard work.

If generating new business is an uphill battle for you then I’d wager that you either don’t have marketing assets working for you or they are the wrong types of assets.

Without marketing assets in your business you’ll have to resort to things like cold calling, constant prospecting, and networking. It’s hard, soul-crushing work and I recommend not to go down that track.

And this is why I spend a lot of time with my marketing coaching clients on assets creation. The exciting thing is that once they are built, you can deploy them over and over again with very minimal effort.

It’s similar to building an oil well. It’s hard work getting it all built initially, but once it’s built you just keep it operating and pumping the oil out of the ground.
